Connect an AI agent

Give Claude, ChatGPT or any other MCP client the tools for your purchase orders, invoices and approvals, signed in as you.

Overview

The Pleaxy MCP server gives an AI agent, such as Claude or ChatGPT, tools for your purchase orders, invoices, receipts and approvals. You connect it to your own Pleaxy account: it sees what you see, in the workspaces you choose, and every change it makes is recorded as yours. Decisions stay with you.

There are two ways to connect. An app that connects to MCP servers by URL, such as claude.ai, the Claude apps or ChatGPT, uses Pleaxy's hosted server, with nothing to install. An MCP client on your computer, such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Cursor, can run the server itself with npx. Both connect the same way: Pleaxy opens in your browser, you sign in, tick the workspaces and allow it.

Connect an app by URL

In your app's connector settings, add a custom connector with this address. There is no client ID or key to enter: the app registers itself with Pleaxy.

connector URL
https://mcp.pleaxy.ai/mcp
  1. Connect. The app opens Pleaxy in your browser. Sign in as you always do: password, passkey or your company's single sign-on.
  2. Choose the workspaces. Pleaxy shows which app is asking and where it will send you back. Tick the workspaces the agent may use and select Allow.
  3. Use it. Back in the app, ask about your purchase orders or invoices. The app keeps the connection; you don't sign in again for 30 days.

Run it on your computer

The server is on npm as pleaxy-mcp and needs Node.js 22.18 or later. Sign it in once from a terminal: Pleaxy opens in your browser, where you sign in, tick the workspaces and allow it.

shell
export PLEAXY_API_BASE_URL="https://api.pleaxy.ai"
npx -y pleaxy-mcp login # opens Pleaxy: sign in, tick the workspaces, Allow
npx -y pleaxy-mcp whoami # who the server acts as, and its workspaces
npx -y pleaxy-mcp logout # disconnects it

Then add it to your MCP client's config. With no API key set, the server acts as you. The sign-in is stored on your computer, readable by you only, and every MCP client there that runs the server shares it.

Workspaces

An agent uses only the workspaces you ticked when you connected it. Every tool takes a workspace, and list_workspaces names them, so one connection works across all of them. With a single workspace allowed, the agent uses that one.

To add or remove a workspace, connect the agent again and tick a different set. If you lose access to a workspace in Pleaxy, the agent loses it too.

What an agent can do

An agent can read and draft whatever your role allows: find purchase orders and invoices, check AI spend, match an invoice, raise a purchase request. Decisions are different. Approving or rejecting an invoice, sending a discrepancy on to approval, recording a payment, creating or approving a purchase order, confirming a receipt, deciding a service entry sheet and setting a provider's spending limit, and for a supplier, confirming a payment arrived or reporting that it didn't, are sent to you as agent requests. You confirm or cancel each one in Pleaxy within 24 hours, and nothing happens until you do. Rejecting a purchase order whose approval step names you happens at once, as it does in the Pleaxy Assistant.

An agent never confirms its own requests, and it can't change your security settings, API keys or workspace members. Pleaxy records every change an agent makes or asks for.

Your connected agents

Pleaxy tells you each time an agent connects to your account. You see every connected agent, with the app it runs in, its workspaces and when it was last used, in Pleaxy under Security & Sign-in → Agents, where you can sign each one out.

A connection lasts 30 days. It ends sooner when you sign the agent out, reset your password, turn off 2-step verification or are locked out of Pleaxy. Then connect it again. You can have up to 20 connected agents.

Integrations with an API key

For an integration that runs without a person, the server on your computer can use a workspace API key instead of your sign-in (see AI agents (MCP)). A key acts in one workspace, and decisions are refused to it: they need a person. The hosted server doesn't take API keys.
